Sports massage therapy is designed for injury recovery, injury prevention and healthy soft tissue maintenance. It can assist in correcting muscular dysfunction that is caused by strenuous overuse, repetitive activity and trauma.
I use a variety of different techniques to encourage healthy musculature, such as soft tissue release, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, deep tissue frictions, sports tape, and the use of hot and cold stones. All treatments are unique to the client and their needs.
Tension headaches, knots, tight and aching muscles, soft tissue injury, tendonitis and general aches and pains are all common reasons to see a sports massage therapist – other benefits include:
60-minute treatment £50
30-minute treatment £30
Maintenance Sports Massage
Most clients will come in for a deep tissue maintenance massage once every 4 – 8 weeks, depending on how their body reacts to treatment. Maintaining healthy muscle function is the key to preventing injury and keeping muscle aches and pains at bay.
Hot/Cold Stone Sports Massage Therapy
The use of heat and cold can be extremely beneficial used separately or together to treat muscle dysfunction and can be a more enjoyable experience when working with the deeper muscle layers. Heat relaxes the muscles and increases blood flow, allowing for deeper sports massage to be completed faster and more comfortably.
Cold can restrict blood flow temporarily, decreasing swelling and once removed introduce fresh blood and oxygen to the area increasing circulation.
